Photography, Photoshop, and InDesign

Materials are often applied with fixed meanings or associations, but through experimentation, these meanings can be transformed, challenging existing perceptions and opening up new possibilities. Addiction can make things seem alluring and essential to everyday life and distract from the horrific aspects that lie beyond the short term relief. Sometimes, seemingly compulsory feelings towards objects can lead us to become dependent and view them as special. We begin using them as support even though we know of the possibly dangerous consequences.  The lighting and framing of the images highlight the beauty of the material, allowing it to draw the viewer in, but the dark and mysterious nature in the photographs also create a feeling of unease. The close cropping of the images disguises the form and allows the viewer to see the substance as different objects. As one searches for ways to satisfy their desires, it becomes clear that what is a treat for one person is a danger for another.
