Friendship Sweaters February 2023 - Sculpture
Crocheted Yarn
Sweaters are often used as symbols for comfort, love, and protection as they cover the wearer and keep them warm. By interlinking two sweaters in an infinite embrace, the sweaters become a symbol for “being close” both physically and emotionally as the wearers become inseparably connected. The intertwined sweaters represent friendship and love, holding individualism in their patterns and similarities through color. The patterns that decorate the sweaters are similar to those found on friendship bracelets, continuing the motif of connectedness with the patterns. The interlocking and weaving aspects of crochet represent the bond of friendship.


Process
