Trevor Paglen’s essay Geographies of Time discusses EchoStar XVI, which holds a collection of 100 images titled The Last Pictures that showcase a series of technologies which have altered our perception of time and how these technologies have affected the Earth's ability to support life. Displayed on the front and back cover is a grid which contains a large spread of images that come from The Last Pictures which have been arranged into a grid. With the continuity between the front and back covers it creates an orbital pattern around the inner spreads. I was also interested in NASA’s red from NASA’s Graphics Manual and included it because of their involvement in the launch of the EchoStar XVI. Some of the text alignments are less traditional because I wanted to play with the idea of space and the change of space, starting the first pages in a more traditional manner, and moving away from that approach as I reached the end.
